In 2018, New York was one of the two American cities to welcome the Refugee Food Festival for the first time in the United States!

Israeli, French or Italian, three restaurants opened their kitchens to two refugee chefs, from Iran and Syria, for some savory culinary exchanges.

Chef Nasrin gave Taim Nolita’s wonderful menu a spicy Iranian twist with her falafel of the day!

Chef Antoine Westermann welcomed Nasrin in his restaurant where guests enjoyed a co-created menu honoring poultry.

This convivial East Village Italian restaurant turned Syrian for an evening, offering chef Diaa’s mezzes to guests.

Why did Céline and Justine want to get involved in organising the Refugee Food Festival? “Because food brings joy and is a universal language that brings together people, we think that the Refugee Food Festival is a great way to explain how the culture of refugees is rich and interesting for people. As citizens, we wanted to be a part of this wonderful project, which is an amazing human adventure, made of incredible encounters.”
